Our mind works on certain principles and it understands only the language of repetition. Whatever goes in your mind whether consciously or unconsciously, it believes that. Each and every thought of yours counts and it creates your reality. So everytime you think about something, think about it in a positive way as the mind has a dominant tendency of taking all your negative commentry. Whatever salf talk you do throughout the day, the mind takes food from it and grows from it and tries to bring more of such things in your life. For instance if you keep thinking about something which you lack in your life, the mind will ensure that you lack more of that thing. Similarly if you concentrate on positive things and deliberately affirm your mind that you are a strong person and nothing can stop you from achieving your desires, then the mind takes a back seat and it has no choice except to make everything possible in your life. As per Buddha “The mind is our greatest friend and biggest enemy.” The Bhagawat Gita also tells that the mind becomes your best friend if you are successful in controlling it but it becomes your worst enemy when you fail to control it. In fact, the mind is our greatest enemy as you can see today the doings of this rebellious mind-it is impelling people to commit sinful activities, inciting them to commit heinous crimes and forcing them to indulge in activities that bind them to miserable suffering. It can even delude Yogi's from their path.
Now let me clarify about positive affirmations and how they affect us. Positive affirmation are the positive self talks which we keep repeating in order to achieve positive results in our life. These are the dialogues we keep reaffirming conciously to our mind so that the mind becomes habitual and accepts them naturally without any doubt and brings positive changes in our life. If practiced regularly, they become part of our habit and when we change our habits, our life also changes. If you don't then as I mentioned earlier that the mind has a tendency to accept all the negatives on it's own and act upon it. Let me explain through an example: suppose you have a beautiful house and you have two gardens in it. In the front there is a garden “A”and at the back there is a garden “B”. Every morning when you wake up, you water the plants of garden “A” but seldom visit garden “B”. After some time you will see different results in both areas. You will find garden “A” blooming with beautiful flowers and garden “B” full of bushy thorns. This is what happens with your mind also. The choice is yours.
